Fastest Brain

The advancement in technology has led humans to create a better version of themselves. To mimic themselves they must firstly invent a machine that would think like them.

After ten years, scientists finally created a machine that is a super computer with 1 million  processors and 1200 interconnected circuit boards. This supercomputer is based on the model of human brain that is a habitat of 100 billions of neurons. Certainly, the 1 million processors are not even  close to 100 billion neurons but still it is first of its kind to be the world's fastest brain-mimicking machine.
This supercomputer is programmed to mimic the firing of neurons like a human brain becoming the largest neuromorphic computer. This million processor core is called as "Spiking Neutral Network Architecture" or "SpiNNaker". It can perform 200 million actions per second.

Now certainly, the journey to create such a machine was not at all plain-sailing. It took the team 20 years to come up with the concept only and another 6 years to build the structure. Moreover, a colossal amount of £ 15 million was put into funding for the entire project.
This supercomputer called SpiNNaker was built in The University of Manchester's School of Computer Science. What makes SpiNNaker different than other computers is that unlike traditional computers it does not shares information from point A to B through a standard network instead it imitates human brain by sending large amount of data simultaneously to multiple landing places.
The million core processor supercomputer will be used to understand how human brain functions and processes information. Not only that, recently this supercomputer was also used to control a robot. The robot in turn used supercomputer’s system to process information.

The question arises is that are we even close to creating human brains? For now, it may seem a possibility but even by creating million processors only 1% of human brain was scaled. Therefore, a lot is yet left to be achieved.
